Environmental Policy

DIRECT-TEC/SUSTAINABILITY
The Direct-tec Group is committed to providing solutions
as part of a sustainable future environment. As such we
continuously strive to provide products and services that
can be used safely, whilst causing minimal impact upon
the environment.

The principle ambition of our approach is:
Minimising Carbon Footprint:

We strive to minimise our carbon footprint and are
currently working towards becoming a completely
carbon neutral organisation. In addition to this we
are able to deliver market leading carbon neutral
deployments by calculating the carbon footprint
of a deployment (delivery mileage, packaging
used etc) and purchasing carbon credits through
the Carbon Neutral Company to offset this within
forestation and energy reduction projects
throughout the world.

Disposal of Returned Equipment:
WEEE directive
A key part of this commitment is our procedure
for disposing of old and or redundant equipment.

Due to direct-tec’s partnership with remanufacturing
programs, we are in a position to maximise the cost
recovery for outgoing assets. All returned equipment
will be exported to Africa and Eastern Europe if it
cannot be refurbished and subsequently made
available to charities throughout the UK and Ireland.

In addition to delivering significant added value to
the client, the majority of our customers welcome
the idea in which this program endorses their
corporate social responsibility programs and
environmental sustainability initiatives.

Toner Recycling:
All photocopier toner cassettes are disposed of
with regular waste as they are fully Bio-Degradable.
Laser toner cartridges are made from a singular
grade of plastic and as such are very amenable
to recycling.

Some clients have requested that recycled cartridges
are dispatched to charitable organisations such as
British Red Cross, The Macmillan Trust, Oxfam,
SCOPE, so that they may benefit from this
environmental initiative.

Direct-tec also strives to work within manufacturers
sustainability programs and actively take part in
both Ricoh’s “Seeds for Africa” programme and
Konica Minolta’s “Clean Planet Programme”.
